| Beautifully situated in the Gooi, in one of the oldest inhabited areas of our country, lies this magnificent property Het Eiland. The well-known authentic and picturesque towns and villages of Hilversum, Bussum, Laren, and Blaricum are nearby. Amidst the slightly sloping countryside and on the margin of the ‘Utrechtse Heuvelrug’. Is a unique plot of land of as much as 8 hectares, located in a protected nature reserve. From the long, narrow entrance it fans out in a vast stretch of woodland within its centre this majestic stately home. A wrought-iron gate gives access to the estate. The right hand side offers a wide view of meadow covered with wild flowers and herbs, a haven for many deer, birds and other wildlife. This stately home was built in the typical 1930-s style. A homely building with a shapely thatched roof with window boxes and broad eaves. Built in hand-moulded red brick stone with arched windows and steps leading up to the main entrance. The building is embraced by several terraces at different levels and is embedded in a neatly kept garden with ponds, flowers and small hedges.
On the vast plot of woodland at the north-eastern side of the stately home lies another building plot of some 875 m² on which a second building can be realised. The extended basement holds a spacious heated indoor swimming pool with on one side trompe-l’oeil paintings and on the other side access to the garden. On the same level are a Turkish bath, a sauna and a relaxation room furnished with a central fireplace and fully-equipped fitness room. The property is very diverse in plantation and design. On the one hand we see the original woods of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. The ancient oaks, beech trees, firs, spruces and rhododendrons exude a fresh and green atmosphere. On the other side the lower meadow is bounded by a brook. The meadow stretches out as far as the farmlands of nursery De Liemieten. The stately home is surrounded by an ornamental garden with in the front a pond with columns of yew trees and statues, circled by de drive made of mountain gravel.
Nearby the stately home one finds formally arranged flowerbeds with all kinds of roses and colourful hydranges, bordered by small box hedges. Due to the garden’s differences in height a stream laps through it now, ending in the pond. |
